A new PlayStation patent is spinning and is by its involvement. At the superficial level, the new patent seems to insinuate one of three things: a large and somewhat strange update for the PS5 controller, the PS6 controller or a PS5 Pro controller. Of course, all these possibilities would be exciting for users of PlayStation, who has just received a great review with DualSense, which separated from Dualshock’s proven and true formula. Many assumed that this would be the only evolution of the PlayStation controller for some time, but it seems that Sony, at least, is playing with some new and audacious ideas.
A new patenting Sony has appeared and is for a videogame controller. Now, the patent does not mention the PS5, but it is safe to assume that at least this is related to PlayStation because, otherwise, why SONY would present patents for controller technology? As for the patent itself, it is for a folding control lever.
“A controller, control device or system comprising a control device body, a control device shaft coupled to the control device body wherein the control device axis is configured to retract into the device body of Control and in which the control device body and the control device axis can rotate together freely around a pivot center inside the controller’s body, “is read in an extract of the patent.
The patent was presented on June 22, 2021, but it was just published this month. Therefore, it is quite new, but it remains to be seen if it will happen to the concept to the real product. Sometimes, patents not only take years to materialize, but often never pass from the conceptual stage. Sony has presented a game patent metric that we never needed again.
At the time of publication, Sony has not commented on this patent, its appearance, nor the speculation it has created. Usually, it does not comment anything related to its patents, so we do not expect it to comment on this, but if it does, we will make sure to update the story accordingly.
